"Big disappointment at Spain.
Was fighting for 2nd with Dazza, Riley & Parkour for 2nd....then on Lap 17 my PC froze and I could not alt tap del or do anything.
I did try a different monitor through the week and have been having the od issue of freezing since. Might have to re-install AMD CCC to see if that corrects the problem." - Silicnt - Ferrari
"Can't be happy with scoring points off others mis-fortune, but considering the week I've been having I wasn't even sure I was going to make the grid.
Thursday/Friday suffered from the worst food poisoning instance I've ever had. I had a bucket strategically placed next to the cockpit. Luckily it was not used.
As for the race, was always going to flounder at the back. Stuffed up two of my laps on options and in the end was last anyway and started on Primes. Went for a 3 stopper with P, P, P, O.
Won out in the end with Ben trying to go two and then him crashing into the wall and having to pit early for his last stint." - Atomic Lambo - McLaren
"Fucked EVERYTHING up. Was hoping for a good result this week, but, no.
Tried to qualy on primes, but unable to crack the top ten so fine, start on fresh primes then and go a 2 stopper. Good plan! But fucked it up.
Decent first stint, comfy in second after everyone but one did their first stop, messy lap 12, the last first stint lap, with shot tires. Dropped a bit of time.
Then towards the end of the second stint lost it into a wall and blew a tire and left a fan my front wing. Crawled it back to base, race over.
Had to make the last options run go 12 laps - the last 2 laps well into cliff-territory. As expected, shot tires at the end.
It could have worked. But it didn't.
Bad luck to the fellas who dropped, and also two biggish freezes in the game too, not a great night. I won't bother with the replay cos it's mostly me struggling alone with a slippy car, but yell if there are any incidents you wanna see." - Flouncy - McLaren
Had an ok Qualy. Got in top ten.
After all the fuss was over in the first few laps I was still 10th. Then Oz dropped, causing my game to lag out and I went sailing into a sand trap. From 10th I was now last and 6secs down on Lambo through no fault of my own.
Fortunately I was attempting a 2 stopper which was pretty much the only way I was going to achieve some points from here anyway.
Kept at it, even though I was slower on the dying tires it was just drivable. Binned it into the sand at one stage in the middle stint on aging tyres that insisted they had to lock up on me, but apart form that just tried to be consistent and not fuck it up. Worked well enough, think I finished where I should have despite Oz's drop locking my game up early on.
Tires went O, P, P." - Eradicator - Sauber
"Kinda like Lambo, hate taking points off people who dropped, but, woohoo 5th!
I was sweating the last few laps with 888 catching me at a very alarming rate, almost 2 seconds a lap. My tyres were shit and I had no fuel to put it to rich. Then he dropped on the second last lap and the pressure was off.
I had a nice race though, barged my way past a few people, sorry if this hurt anyone. Lambo a couple of times as we had different pit strategies I think. Passed ToF coming into the 3rd corner, hope that was clean ToF. That's where I made most of my passes. I seem to have good first sector speed. Pity about the other 2 sectors.
Caught Flouncy who was struggling on bad tyres and overtook him coming down the back DRS straight. I left room on the outside but I think I may have been a bit too aggressive. WOuldn't mind seeing your view of that Flouncy.
But yeah, pretty pitiful experience with people dropping all over the place. When Sili dropped, my race froze and when it came back Flouncy was right behind me. I kinda stuffed him up there I think. I was distracted because as soon a sili dropped and my computer froze I thought I had dropped so almost took my hands off the wheel and packed it in, luckily it came back before I gave up completely." - Ghost - Caterham
"Difficult day at the office for sure. Wasn't feeling well on race day so I didn't feel like racing so I can't say I gave it 100%. Didn't matter anyway as my pace was well off all the competition which was disappointing since Catalunya is my favourite track.
Anyway, start was interesting as I saw a Sauber being pushed sideways down the straight. I didn't know what was real and not real so I decided to be cautious into turn 1 which dropped me back a few places. From there I was on the back foot as I'm never comfortable with the Merc on high fuel and I was battling Flouncy, Eradicator and Ghost. Was good fun. Once Ghost got passed I had no answer to his pace. I opted for 3 stop each for primes. This was on the absolute cliff limit so when 888 came out behind me with options on the final stint I knew I had a chance to take him on the final laps. Unfortunately he had a mechanical failure so we never got to see it play out.
On a personal note, I managed to keep 888 held up for at least 2 laps which is an improvement on my racecraft which is something I can take away from this race. Really unfortunate for the 3 DNFs but I could use the points for sure." - ToF - Mercedes
