Hi Gents,

This weekend is a bye on the formal race schedule. For anyone suffering from withdrawal I'll run a couple of informal races on Sunday evening. As the oval tracks didn't make it onto the list for formal season, I think it's only fair we give them a go this weekend and try both the right and left handed variants.

We'll also mix things up with a couple of changes vs usual approach:

Details as follows:

Date: Sunday 18 Aug
Time: First qauly session starting at 7:45
What: 2 Races with 10 minute qauly and 30 minute race. Standing start on both per qauly results.
Where:
Race 1[Left]: Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oval
Race 2[Right]: Autodromo Nazionale Monza Oval Historic
Settings:
We will run the same settings as per normal Season 6 rounds, with the following changes:
- Open Setup (but with the proviso that anyone can ask for you to share your setup)
- Tyre wear will be on. (With setup open and hence tyre selection at the start of the race this will add an interesting dimension between prime and option tyres).

Lets see what this Indycar was built to do.

I think for IndyCar the Primary is the harder compound (black sidewall) and they call the faster option we usually race with (red sidewall) the Alternate.

FYI the oval default setup seems pretty decent - but it's made for left-turning tracks. The steering noticeably pulls to the left. So everyone will need a custom setup for the Monza race. Or just change the tracks to 2x left-turners.

Can tracks be run in the reverse direction?
Might solve the Monza situation

I don't believe it's possible to run tracks in reverse in PC2. Or have I
I been missing something all this time?

Yeah, well need custom setups for Monza, but easy enough. Just copy Shooter's setup, seeing that he holds the all time record for IndyCar around Monza oval.

Are you aware that you can load a TT car setup from who ever you like from the TT lobby.

Go to TT in game
Select Add Ghost (no pun intended)
Select driver on TT board
Load
Then on the graphics to the RHS a little Gear
Click on that
Should get the option to use or rename setup
I then esc out of TT
Then Started online practice and setup was there

This is off the top of my head, but will be close

Did it myself last night with Shooters TT setup
I've lost most of my indycar setups, only for Daytona, which is good.
I didn't like Shooters, so combined my Daytona and Shooters setup.
Still a work in progress

Hi Gents.

We are trialling a new dedicated server. So far so good, but to make sure it's solid we'll use it for this weeks bye round races.

I've set it up with all the settings for this weeks races, and you can use it for practice at any time.

The server is "atomicsimracing.net: Season 6". No password needed if you use it during the week. On race night it will have the usual password.

Have'nt got to a strategy. But I reckon, going on qually pace.
You may need as much as 116 litres in total.
I don't know what usage for race pace.

Hi Gents,

Thanks - that was interesting - very different, but still fun.

Also gave a good shake out of server, and other than being difficult to find the server seemed to hold up pretty well.

Also - simresults worked a treat. Check out https://simresults.net/190818-Ws5

Cheers

That was awesome fun. We need to do this again but everyone has the same setups which will make for very exciting racing with all the drafting that will happen.

That first race I was in 6th gear thinking that's what it needed, then came down to 5th and was faster and the realised that if I went down to 4th on the corners and small straight I could go even faster still. Was fun figuring that out and catching flouncy by the end of the race. Pity he ran put of fuel a couple of minutes before the end as I would have like to see if I could catch him. I think I would have.

Mona, wow what a track. Bumpy as fuck and just unpredictable car handling on the corners. Fun though

Yeah heaps cool. Indy was amazing, would be tops with a really crowded track. Adding an oval with locked setups to a regular season would be a nice bit of variety. But not Monza. That place is a deathtrap :)

You wouldn't have caught me Ghost.

I would have, you would have panicked and lost control, the pressure of me coming up behind you is a stress inducing moment and you would have choked. Guaranteed, put a million bucks on it.
