Hi.

Would anyone be keen on a pre-season race this Sunday?

Let's say IndyCar, fixed setup, at Watkins Glen.

Run as per usual season times and rules. (Sun 7:45 start,15m qualy, 2x30m races. Reverse grid on second)

We can hijack the ASR server, or otherwise run a public lobby.

Please express your interest below and if sufficient numbers I'd be happy to facilitate on the night.

Cheers.

I'm thinking tyre wear off. We'll see enough tyre preservation in the F1 race after.

Just checked. It looks like the the indy can only hold duel for 15 laps, 70 lt at Watkins Glen
May mean a pit stop for fuel
30 mins I estimate around 21-22 laps, maybe more

Top racing last night gents, and with a reasonable enough turnout including clean racing randoms to make it a satisfying night.

This car is a winner for racing.

OK. Let's get in on!

Enjoyed the racing last night.
The indycar, is nice to drive.
Disappointed to have pc2 bug out and miss the 5 lapper at Sakkitto/Suzuka
I couldn't join, but I could spectate, that was fun. :D

Somebody mentioned perhaps doing it again next saturday.
As no date for an ASR championship has been set as yet.
I'm keen for another run on sunday, but what track?
And maybe a wet or varying conditions race. Just to spice it up

Thanks Gents. That was good fun. And educational. I now realise I need significant more practice before the season proper starts.

I'll definitely be up for another run this coming Sunday.

Hopefully the actual season will run this weekend. if not yeah let's run again. Though tbh I'm starting to think Velo may have something happening IRL that's holding him away from getting the season underway so maybe we just start the season ourselves. If we do we'll have to make sure everyone that's keen on racing is informed and can race.

Testing of my new gear has gone well. No rig yet, but with force turned down to 15% I can already feel how good the DD1 is.

Ran the indi around brands Hatch for a few laps (literally) and despite not putting a lap together (was using the analogue paddles as brake/gas) it felt really good - keen for the season when I've got the rig... Maybe before if I drill a couple of holes in my desk before it arrives ;)

What sort of lap times are aiming for at Watkins Glen?

Nice mate.

Low 1.26 to be very quick. 1.25ish possible when it all comes together and you nail it.

Hey Flouncy, do you or anyone have any thoughts on what track for next Sunday
Whether it be a ASR Championship or just a practice night.
I'm asking as I would like to do some practice regardless.

Any thoughts on Sakitto, I know you only got 5 laps in.
I missed out last night due to pc2 not letting me race.
I did a few laps around there today with the indy, very nice.

Yeah. Sakitto would be good. Never really raced it before, and couldn't get a good lap together on Sunday, but thought it had potential. Turn 1 & 2, once mastered, would be immense.

Hi Gents.

Knowing a few people might want to (or in my case, desperately need to) do some practice, let's lock this in. So unless the season proper is sorted before then let's work on:

Car: IndyCar fixed setup.
Track: Sakitto GP.
Server: Will run public server as per last week. Look for "ASR Pre-season".
Race 1: 30 mins, standing start per qualy.
Race 2: 30 mins, standing start (random).
Start time: Sun 7:45pm AEST Qualy start. I'll set up the server as of 7:20pm for some practice.

Notable settings:
Damage=Off. Because randoms and fragile open wheelers
Tyre Wear=off
Fuel burn=on
Manual Pits=on. (Auto pit created some confusion last time)
Weather=Clear both races

Damage=On. The randoms that joined last time were fairly well behaved. Should we risk going damage on to add some jeapordy?
Tyre Wear=off
Fuel burn=on
Manual Pits=on. (Auto pit created some confusion last time)

Mostly sounds good, but like the idea of Damage Off, this ensures you can finish.
It is a practice round.

Personally I am really dubious of open forums. We had some good drivers on sunday, but generally you get dickheads.
And normally indycars gets a lot of drivers, very popular class, especially in the states.

Any chance of mixed weather being considered for the second race. Any opinions?
Maybe wet to drying conditions.

Just so I have a ballpark number when practicing - what would be a fairly standard lap time around Sakitto in this group?
