Thankyou everyone who turned up to the test session last night and giving your feedback. It seems we're pretty happy with the VGTB or GT5 cars.

To get more of an idea on how running the 3 VGTB cars go we'll have another test session this Sunday night using different types of tracks. Depending on how this goes will determine if we're running the multi-car class or a one-make series.

It also gives me a chance to flesh out a few of the different ideas raised for running a multi-car series. :)

I'll update this post with the track list. We'll have a similar schedule - short practise / short race. The idea behind this is to get everyone in different cars to try everything out. This will probably be the last test session before we jump into a series so I hope to see you all there :)

Starting 7:30pm AEDT
5 min practise / 15 minute race

V-GTB
Donington Park National
Azure Circuit
Oulton Park Fosters

GT5
Watkins Glen International Short
Zolder

Had a little private test tonight.

On longish flowing circuits it's
1. Merc
2. BMW
3. Escort

And the inverse for slow tight circuits
1. Escort
2. BMW
3. Merc

Yeah, I was looking that horsepower and weight ratings last night when we chose cars. The stats alone conveyed early to me what you've laid out there.

Sounds like GT5 is being left alone for next Sunday? I'd like it if we could run it on some tracks as well. If possible.

I'd suggest also, just do 10 minute races with no practice. Get stuck straight in so we can cover more car/track combos.

Cool, as I thought. I guess this raises some questions then:
1. If everyone was able to choose any car for each race, wouldn't everyone be picking the "best" car for the track? This would likely make it a one model race (except if someone wanted to be different). In that case would it be easier for it to be a one make season?

2. If everyone had to pick a car at the start of the season, would tracks be chosen that balance out things overall for the season? For example trying to have an even mix between fast and slow tracks. Team Championship wise I guess you could also have teams made up of the 3 different cars, so each team on car performance alone is able to do well at every track.

I know a lot of that would be answered later on (if this class is chosen) but am interested to see how it would work.

I'd be happy to do that, just so we can get a cover more combinations in the time we have. I'll be trying out each car offline as well to see how well I got with the slower but better handling cars (given I was having too much fun with the Merc and kept using it).

Yeah I still think GT5 is a good option for the one make type series. Still need more testing

If we go for 3 different cars per team for the season it would be best to balance the track choice to say 4 tight tracks, and 4 longer flowing courses. - Knowing which those tracks are will take a bit of effort. However, that will definitely be very interesting team championship wise.

Amended the track list as Knockhill doesn't support a full grid.

Hi BFG! Welcome to ASR. Good racing tonight.

I still like the GT5. A little gutless but that's part of its charm.

The Merc is a friggin glass cannon. It's a big weapon but can be taken out in the corners so easily. Getting tail happy with it is a requirement, not a choice.

Didn't drive the other old bangers as I did them last week.

My preference remains
1. GT5
2. Old bangers

I like all the cars to be honest.

However, I think we should consider doing a multi car season, so really GTB is a goer for me.

Teams of 3, each driver selects a unique car for their team( bmw, merc or ford, no doubling up), for the season. Mix up the tracks with slow and fast ones. Results will vary which i think will be a good thing.

All the races in GTB tonight were pretty close for different reasons.

Also at the end of the season i guess there would be Driver champ, Team Champ, also Manufactures champ (best of ford, merc, bmw).

Hopefully we have numbers... :)

Great fun and close racing. Any of these cars would do nicely. Not sure per mesafto's idea if allocating a set car per driver for the season if we use those vintage ones. Some teams may not have 3 people, some may want to switch around during a season, some may have to choose a car when they prefer something else.

Could totally do any inc GT5, they're cool and great for racing.

Agree either class will be good.
I found the gt5 that bit more forgiving and provided more close racing, over the bmw.

For me its
1 gt5
2 vgt

Good points Flouncy.
-I think the 3 or so teams (of 3 drivers) that are serious will turn out every week. I was in Casual racing and i didn't think it was a problem having mostly 2/3 racers each week. Maybe ASR-FIA should consider teams of two again?

-My personal opinion is that the restriction would introduce something new that i dont think we have experienced in ASR (I'm still newish though) - which is multi car type racing dynamics. E.g Merc vs Escort around Laguna was really interesting to see lots of passing between two very different cars.

- Open selections is a good idea for different reasons, at least for being fastest at each track. the two drawbacks i can think of will be drivers probably needing to spend a bit of time each week getting used to a different car,, maybe slightly reduces merc vs escort type racing. May not be a problem at all.

I think I would have the most fun in the vintage GTs (I get really good ffb on the G25... why can't all cars in PC2 be like this?!?), but realistically our history in multi class is chequered, therefore I would put:

1) GT5 - for good league racing;
2) VGT (although I gotta do special events in these cars throughout the season);
