I've been bursting to get this post out but wanted to wait until the 3rd season had officially finished. To keep the ball rolling I don't think we need a break :)

Prior to starting season 4 we need to know what cars and tracks we'll be running. Based on the replies in the EOI I've shortlisted a couple of car classes to test out on some popular tracks. Up until season 4 officially starts the server will be open with no password. Usually with a decent size lobby (>5) we'll find a few outsiders joining in and the lobby will fill up.

I've tested every car / class that was previously suggested in Discord or the EOI thread. The cars shortlisted are the ones I thought were the best feeling and could provide us with a close competition.

Sunday 7:30pm (AEDT) November 11th.

10 minute practise / 15 minute race @ Laguna Seca
Test 1: Caterham
Test 2: Vintage GT B
Test 3: GT5
Test 4: Ferrari F333 (DLC)

No qualifying means we'll have random positions on the grid for every race.

Doh... no Ford Escort!... all good though

Velo, without trying to be a difficult child, would it be easier just to choose the one track for all 4 races so we can better back to back assess the cars in racing mode?

Not sure if I will make it as I am moving house. They are all good options though. Caterham is kind of like fr on fast forward :D. Are we going to do open setups?

Ford Escort is part of the VGTB class :)

As for running 1 track.. It's a good idea. Does anyone object to Laguna Seca being our test track for the evening?

We will be using default setups unless there is overwhelming support to open it up. Default setups keep it simple and removes some of the pressure prior to the race.

As it is, brake bias and ARB's are adjustable in the car.

Laguna is always a good choice. Might be a little short for the Fezza but you'll get the idea for sure.

Corkscrew + Caterham + VR = OMFG

Defo.

The F333 may be little and look like a Radical, but it's totally Big Track Worthy. It would be a Spa beast. Brands (full) would be a good test to see how well it handles the tighter tracks but IMO this is a car that can go at it on any track type.

We'll do Laguna Seca and just swap between the cars.

Nice choice of cars flossiraptor. I have my ranked favourites but will stay stealthy until all testing is done because I'm well aware of how much weight my influence sways around here. People: make up your own minds for once.

But take the time pre-Sunday to get the FOV and seat position right for the F333. Wrong and it's a bothering opticunt bump, right and it's a seatbelt.
.
Caterham: weird, fuck them. Dangerous. Unpleasant. Good idea but nah.

GT B: All fun cool 70s Dad cars. May need simple ballast maths to compensate for Merc. Any one of them good for a stand-alone series, guaranteed LOLs and safe close touching each other. Lot of potential here.

GT5. The new Ferrari you drive outta the Maranello factory and hit the hills. Dreamy. State of the art GT. Begs you to hurt it and forgives everything.

F333. A workable combination of hard Italian acoustics, world-beating handling and supreme satisfaction. The coolest sim car probably ever. The ultimate race car. Makes you feel like a driving god. Better than anything else.

I'd love for us to race the F333 is it a DLC though? I would also like to put forward my overwhelming support for open setups. I'm not a great driver, and I'm pretty old by driver standards. But I can tame a beast with a good setup that suites my driving style (mostly erratic curb jumping and way too late braking).

Oh Flouncy, btw we did vintage GT B on one of the break weeks. Merc was nowhere. Pretty sure me and velo were like 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack in the BMW and the escort..velo beat me with the escort mostly due to speed hax though. It's true though that race results will be largely dictated by the track. and velo's hax. At least kikz will be more comfortable on his lid with an actual roof though.

Yeah it's part of the Ferrari pack, you get heaps of content including two tracks in that so it's well worth it.

If we ended up with Vintage Group B ( or a multi car class) there would be quite a few ways the championship could run.

1. A team has to run all three cars - hahah - could be strategic
2. A team has to choose one single car out of the three - most classes do this anyway
3. Each driver chooses one car for the season -

Fuck that's smart. Maybe have it so each driver has to race each car at least once in the season. So you'd choose your tracks for those carefully.

What about the AMG Mercedes 190E as a car to race.
Easy and fun to drive.
