Driver Quotes

"For sure that was a tough race for me and the team. The team identified a brake issue during practice that put us on the back foot this race but my engineers have assured me an upgrade is on it's way for Spain." - Atomic Lambo - McLaren

"Pretty fun race. Could barely drive the car in qualifying after playing a lot of rfactor all week so only 6th there. Got past Tof straight away and had a nice little battle with 888 before I managed to get past. Eventually got past Dazza and was right behind Preyst as he did a 1 stopper and I did a 2 stopper. Was holding the gap to schmeval but couldn't catch him and at the end I had a fun battle with preyst as he defended on worn tyres and I just couldn't get past. Then along came Dazza and I think we went 3 wide into the 1st corner at 1 point and hell broke lose through the esses which lost preyst 2 places with no one willing to take the blame. Had a nice move on Dazza at the very end to just scrape through with second. Congrats to schmeval once again. If I could get on the front row then maybe I would have a shot against you!!!" - RileyF1 - Sauber

"Interesting race with Preyst attempting the one stop... I knew it was on the cards when we decided to do a rolling start but didn't think the risk was worth it given my grid position. I pushed quite hard through-out the second stint, trying to set myself up for a good run at preyst in the final stint on fresh options. Surprisingly I was able to come out of the pits just ahead of him though, and from there it was easy to increase the lead being on much better tyres....

Awesome result for the team, with 888 overtaking Tof into the final turn to finish in the top 5! Gives us a nice buffer over Lotus who are probably our biggest rivals this season..." - Schmeval - McLaren

"Yeah great fun. Intense for just about the whole race. Epic dog fights, military precision strategic calls, differing fuel and tyre strats, missiles, flares, tracer bullets and countermeasures were all fully expended. At least that's how it felt :p

I knew from the get go my 7th gear was too low, so DRS didn't help me much as I was geared more for soloing around the track. I think I was faster around the track but you only needed DRS to pass me.

I think I bumped you off at one stage as you're going so slow. Let you by again anyway just in case.

Also I went options for last stint compared to you going primes I believe, thinking 9 laps they'd do ok. Pulled out a 2.7s gap but once they'd gone past their best usage didn't take long for you to close the gap and DRS it.

After you overtook me on my fading options my engineer said you had a time penalty, so I wasn't so worried then. All your effort was futile after that mwahaha." - Eradicator - Sauber

"Well that was the most disappointing race of my Atomic career and I've had some awful races in the past, S7 Korea and just recently S8 Malaysia. Ross Brawn will be having a sit down with me to discuss the continuing theme of lack of racecraft. It has always been around but never became too important as I used to have the pace to bring it to the front. This season is a very different story with a tight field and to know you had the pace to easily finish behind the top guys but then get caught up is really disappointing." - ToF - Mercedes

"Very disappointed with QF after messing up the 1st run I had to set a banker which was OK. I didn't leave enough gap on the 3rd run to a car ahead and binned it. But still ended P2 which was good enough.

I struggled in the opening stint but was able to hold my own against Preyst for the majority of the first stint. It seems once the tyres start going off I lose quite a lot of time and will be spending some time in the simulator to fix this. Riley caught me and I didn't put up too much of a fight as that was only going to lose more time and my goal was P2.

Ran Mix 1 for most of the out lap after the first stop which was a mistake as I almost undercut Riley. From there it was just trying to set some solid laps and try again in the next round of stops, however Riley on options and Preyst on a 1 stop a podium seemed out of the question with a +5 sec gap.

The closing 5 laps were absolute flat out all or nothing QF laps to try and catch the guys ahead as the map showed them in a fierce battle I hoped they might bleed enough time to give me a chance. Lap 29 and we were 3 abreast down the pit straight with everything on the line no one wanted to yield. I got tangled with Preyst after turning in slightly too early but got the job done on Riley who then makes a move on the outside through T3 but can't make it stick after I have to lift off slightly to let Preyst back on track after running wide which causes Riley to give me a bit of a tap. I get caught out by Preyst's car majorly slowing through the 'S' section and give him a bit of a tap which caused him to run wide. Apologies Preyst.

Switched to Mix 1 too soon thinking I had it covered but a huge move from Riley under braking at the end of the back straight sealed P3. Well done to him I was sure he had out braked himself and ran wide, unfortunately I was too cautious on the brakes and couldn't attack again." - DaZzA - Mercedes
