"Had a good start, started on the inside line and avoided the contact into turn one. had to drive right round the outside of I think it was ToF and was up to about 4th or 5th. Wasn't consistent on the opening laps and I gave the place back to Intense and ToF. Pitted on lap 8 and switched to the option for the rest of the race. The tires lasted well and while I couldn't hold off Yamaha, I had a close call with Silinct as he closed in the final laps." - Atomic Lambo - McLaren
"Bit of a disaster, but I always seem to attract that/bring it on myself here. Start below, nobody's fault. Except Ghost. But that's all good (no it's not). Yes it is. Couple of laps later I took Mark out - SORRY MARK - with a too-ambitious overtake. That, or he fucked up all by himself. Unlikely, given I was squeezing in through a minimal gap. So sorry, probably." - Flouncy - McLaren
"Wow, I take full responsibility for that shit right there. I went into the first corner on the outside then had to cut the exit so as not to hit anyone. This was regarded as an illegal overtake so I had to give the spots back. Tried to get off the racing line and since I had one wheel pretty much off the track I thought I was clear. Then Flouncy apparently gave me a rogering. I kinda felt it but it wasn't that big(*chortle*). Sorry buddy (not really), but yes really really sorry." - Ghost - Caterham
"Got a good view of the 1st corner shenanigans. Couple laps later I got a good view of Flounces side pod after he told me to go play in the sand. Everyone seemed to pit somewhat early, not sure why. Kept doing my own thing, made some more sand castles here and there. In fact made so many the sand got in my gear box, after my lap 7 off the sandy gravel sound didn't go away, did the rest of the race with sandy gravel stuff constantly going in my ears.
Got lapped by Schmeval, taking his sweet ass time. Spent so long watching and waiting for him to come near me, not quite sure if he'd get me by T1 that I missed the braking point and messed it up, fortunately Schmeval can negotiate moving chicanes too and avoided me.
Not much prac, no setup, no teamy, no points, no hope." - Eradicator - Sauber
"Another solid points haul for Mercedes this week! 14 points vs 5 points of our closest rivals Lotus. I was not sure if I was competitive coming here but to match my time last season on the primes and start P3 was a great start. I always knew T1 was going to be difficult here but I didn't have a great start as I started fishtailing off the line trying to avoid my old team mate who got a Webber of a start. This allowed Yahama to leap ahead of me and Preyst to come along the outside of me. Yamaha broke early but I knew he was still there so I tried to leave room on the apex but obviously everyone was all bunched up and I couldn't turn in. I decided to skip T2 and took Preyst with me. On returning to the track, Codemaster's sleeping policeman curb flipped me up into the middle of the exit of T2 which made for some carnage in front of me as everyone tried to slip past me. I somehow managed to get away unscathed but down in P8, not too bad.
I made my way back up through the field and kept waiting for the best time to pit as I didn't want to feed back into traffic and I think I just timed it right. I came out behind Flouncy who was very generous to me which angered Lambo. Do I sense inter-team tension between the McLaren boys? :P I may have sacrificed my chance of podium by staying out those extra few laps but realistically the pace of Daz and Preyst was untouchable. Daz came out of the pits on the cold primes in front of me and made a number of mistakes giving me a few sneaks but I could never capitalise on it anyway. Start was unfortunate but overall a good race, we will be looking for solid team results in Singapore!" - ToF - Mercedes
"Got a small haul of points this race but I'm sure I could have grabbed more if I'd not been knocked into the gravel. Was super excited about the wet qually as I would have been able to pull off a pretty good session but that wasn't to be and we had dry instead. I did one lap and was aiming for p11, or at the very least a decent sub 10 position with good tyre life left. And I got my wish granted in the final few seconds of qually as lambo knocked me into p11 and Silli almost had me down to p12.
So fresh options means I'd be able to hold out untill lap 22-24 before pitting for primes to finish up the race. I was banking on problems at turn 1 / 2 and the prime runners pitting early and giving me clean air.
I got a wicked start, didn't burn much kers and just wanted to make it through t1 / 2 cleanly and capitalize on any drama that would occur, and oh boy did it!
Silli was able to grab the inside to t1 and then on the exit of 2 it was just chaos. Flouncy and Oz seemed to quiver in fear of the mercedes behind them and promptly made a b line for wall allowing myself to sneak through and grab P7. Shortly after I closed down on Lambo's mclaren as he had trouble negotiation ascari placing me up into 6th. I was closing in on the three way battle of the front runners with ToF hot in pursuit who took me through the first drs zone as I backed off into ascari to avoid commotion. I grabbed DRS down the main straight to get back my position from ToF which worked breifly before Modz rammed me off at T2 into the gravel letting Lambo slip through as well.
A bit later the lotus boys rocked up and tried to pass me... they did pass me. But ghost saw this and acted quickly to right this wrong doing by clipping Silli through t2, letting me jump the both of them and get that sweet sweet clean air.
Got as far up as P3 when everyone else had stopped, I was going to run my opts till lap 22 but they felt fine and I would have gone longer but I didn't want to cause any drama's for our #1 driver.
Flukey chased me down on rich mix and got me, but I got some free drs out of that. Next up was Preyst then Dazza. My race wasn't with these guys so I didn't put up much resistance. Then ToF was behind them and I realized I probably should have fought a bit to help him out. Not wanting to have any contact with ToF I pit and came out behind Lambo and Yamaha with Silli and Oz on options chasing me down. Silli did manage to get me but I was able to fend off Oz who stuffed up into ascari with some drs help leaving me to finish in P9.
I'm not happy with this as I felt p6 was on the cards but there's not much you can do about being rammed off." - Intense - Mercedes
